How do you settle this disagreement?
Imagine a country split 50/50 between two religions. God A commands: Execute the prisoner. God B commands: Imprison him. Do not kill.
There is no constitution. There is no secular court. There is only “My God says” vs. “Your God says.”
If you use basic logic, you side with God B. Why? Because of irreversibility. You cannot un-kill a man. If you make a mistake, you have stolen a consciousness that can never be returned. Logic dictates you choose the option that leaves room for correction.
But a believer does not use logic. They use obedience. If you’re a believer, you can’t answer that question without knowing which God you follow!
And this is where the glitch happens. The believers don’t care about “irreversibility” because they believe in the Afterlife. To them, executing an innocent man isn’t a tragedy. It is just sending him to the VIP lounge early.
This brings us to the single most dangerous reality of faith:
“A system that believes in a guaranteed afterlife has zero incentive to be careful with human life.”
Why would they be careful? To a true believer, death is just a transit system. Collateral damage is a clerical error that God will eventually sort out.
We see this lethal logic in action every single day under Islamic Sharia Law.
LET. THAT. SINK. IN.
Now, the apologists will scream: “But the Bible has crazy laws too! It says to stone people for working on Saturdays!”
Yes. It does. But here is the difference.
Civilized society has put that ideology on a tight leash. We don’t see Christians stoning electricians for fixing a fuse on a Sunday. They have been forced to accept that human rights outrank their ancient text.
But that leash does not exist everywhere.
Look at the map. There are currently over a dozen countries run by Islamic theocracy where the “Word of God” is the law of the land.
Go check the Human Rights Indexes. Go check the Freedom House scores. Or just look at how many of the countries with a high number of executions are Muslim countries under Sharia law.
Those countries are graveyards for human potential. Why? Because they are “simply” following the instructions.
- Apostasy: In countries like Iran, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia, you can be executed for turning away from Allah.
- Child Marriage: They cite the “perfect example” of Prophet Muhammad marrying a six-year-old to justify legalizing pedophilia today.
- Slavery: They cite scripture to justify human bondage in the 21st century.
This isn’t a “bad interpretation.” This is what happens when you let theology drive the car. If the executioners are wrong, they haven’t sent a soul to heaven. They have inflicted an Infinite Loss.
“One cannot use theology to solve a problem, because theology IS undoubtedly THE problem.”
